The salt-lake in Hossegor is a nature reserve connected to the ocean by the Boudigau channel.
Surrounded by a pine forest, it has a very rare ecosystem, and being tidal, it allows oyster farming.

The town has a lovely marine lake. At low tide, it is like heaven and when the tide rises, everybody hasten : divers, paddleboards, dugouts, sailing dinghies, joggers and oysters amateurs gather around a glass of white wine and a plate of fresh oysters.
